The beginnings

He began his adventure with sailing at the age of 15, when in the second grade of junior high school (in 2012) he joined the Maritime Education Program. In the same year, during the holidays, he participated in the first training camp at YC Rewa, under the watchful eye of coach Janusz Frąckowiak.

Career

After graduating from junior high school in 2013, he went to the youth section of sport catamarans at the UKS Navigo Sopot club, under coach Paweł Solecki wings. During the three-year internship at the club, he won the title of junior catamaran Polish champion. In 2016 he sailed in the Delphia 24OD class.

In 2017, he joined the crew of the GOOD SPEED yacht, racing in the ORC formula. On this board he twice won the Polish Southern Baltic Cup and the ORC Polish Championship. In 2018, he joined the HRM Racing crew as a sparring partner of Łukasz Wosinski, who was then preparing for Sopot Match Race. Then for the first time he came into contact with this sailing formula. In the same year, he started in the Youth European Championships in Match Racing, in the crew of Igor Tarasiuk, taking the third place.

The 2019 season was the most intense in Mateusz’s career so far. At that time he took part in the World Youth Championships in Russia, where he finished 4th.

• Youth Polish champion in the Catamaran Open class
